Phase 1: Aiken Alley Update (10/25/19)
Key items have delayed the scheduled work on Aiken started 10/21:
1) Weather: Heavy rain at the first of the week stopped work and then water saturating the soil delayed work afterwards.  Going forward, rain will be the biggest cause of delays.
2) Soil Conditions: Wet conditions modify the type and speed of work required so that the base under the new asphalt is as required for proper, long term stability

As with any construction project, the following can impact schedules:
  • Weather forecasts are reviewed to determine if/what work can begin to avoid having to complete tasks twice.
  • Certain work tasks require time for installed materials to settle before the next step can begin.
  • Tasks that required gravel, concrete or asphalt are limited to weekdays as supply companies are not open on Saturday.
Homeowners with sprinklers running near the alleys undergoing construction are asked to please TURN THEM OFF WHILE WORK IS BEING DONE to avoid any additional impact to installed materials.

Projected Timeline:
10/28-29: Continued undercutting on Aiken
10/31: Paving on Aiken to commence
Week of 11/4: Work on section of Aiken between Shinner Drive and Copley Square Drive
